SOLAR POWER ROOF IN DUC TRONG, LAM DONG PROVINCE
Are the natural conditions of Đức Trọng favorable for the development of rooftop solar power?
Đức Trọng is a district located in the central region of Lam Dong Province, in the southern part of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Its elevation ranges from 600 to 1000 meters above sea level. The district center is 26 kilometers south of the city of Da Lat. Positioned as a transportation hub connecting Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, Buon Ma Thuot, and Phan Rang, Đức Trọng benefits from favorable conditions for external interactions and the robust development of its economy based on three main strengths: Agriculture and Forestry – Industry – Services. The significant role of Đức Trọng in the economic development of Lam Dong is particularly highlighted in the vigorous expansion of its economy, especially in the development of sustainable agriculture combined with services.
At an elevation of over 900 meters above sea level, the local climate exhibits unique features, including a relatively low average temperature, mildness, and considerable day-night temperature fluctuations. Nevertheless, Đức Trọng retains characteristics inherent to the tropical monsoon climate common in Vietnam, such as abundant sunlight hours and a prolonged dry season extending from December to April. Additionally, this region experiences the highest solar radiation levels in Lâm Đồng Province, and Lâm Đồng itself is located in the area with the highest solar radiation in Vietnam.
With these relatively favorable natural conditions for solar energy exploitation, Lam Dong Power Company (PC Lam Dong) has been actively implementing awareness campaigns and encouraging customers to use electricity efficiently and economically. The focus is on adopting solar water heaters and rooftop solar systems that are connected to the grid, making use of the abundant sunlight for power generation.
EHCMC installs rooftop solar power system at clean agricultural farm in Đức Trọng
In response to the local government’s encouragement, Thiên Đức Phát Energy Company Limited has collaborated with Saigon Gia Dinh Electric Joint Stock Company to construct a rooftop solar energy system at a clean agricultural farm. The project is located at Thon Doan Ket Agricultural Farm, N Thol Ha Commune, Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province. The implementation of this rooftop solar energy system, with a capacity of up to 500MWp, is carried out by Saigon Gia Dinh Electric Joint Stock Company.
This project holds immense significance for both the farm itself and the environment at large. The integration of clean agriculture with clean energy – solar energy – not only contributes to minimizing adverse environmental impacts but also generates electricity to support the farm’s production and operations.
The project utilizes 1120 solar panels of Trina Solar brand, each with a capacity of 445Wp, and 4 sets of 100kWp 3-phase inverters from Huawei brand. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 900,000MWp, providing a sustainable energy source for the farm and the province.
