ROOFTOP SOLAR SYSTEM AT TIEN LOC FACTORY - DONG NAI

The climate of Dong Nai is a tropical monsoon climate with two contrasting seasons: dry season and rainy season. The dry season usually starts from December to April of the following year, while the rainy season extends from May to November. The transition period from rainy to dry season occurs from October to December. The average annual temperature ranges from 25 to 27 °C, with extreme high temperatures reaching around 40 °C and extreme low temperatures at 12.5 °C. The number of sunshine hours per year ranges from 2,500 to 2,700 hours, and the average humidity remains high at 80-82%. The average intensity of solar radiation is typically greater than 3.489 kWh/m2/day.

Over the past year, the increasing demand for solar installation and usage, along with new policies on solar electricity purchasing prices, has significantly impacted the pace of solar development and installation within the last year.

According to the Dong Nai Power Company Limited, solar energy is an environmentally friendly and renewable energy source that helps save costs on electricity bills by utilizing solar power and reducing reliance on the national grid, while also maintaining low operating and maintenance costs.

Furthermore, Dong Nai is one of the regions with numerous existing factories and businesses that possess suitable infrastructure and roofing structures for rooftop solar installations. The electricity grid, invested in by the power industry, covers various industrial zones, wards, and communes across the province.

As per the Dong Nai Power Company, up to the present time, there are more than 3,200 customers in the province who have installed rooftop solar systems with a total installed capacity of over 80 MWp, generating a total of 25 million kWh of electricity fed back into the grid. In just the first 9 months of 2020, Dong Nai had nearly 1,800 customers installing solar panels, with a total installed capacity of over 54 MWp. Currently, nearly 1,000 solar power projects are registered to feed electricity into the grid.

To facilitate households, businesses, and investors to install and operate solar power grid systems this year, benefiting from preferential pricing, the Dong Nai Power Company is increasing personnel for contract signing and meter installation, reducing the technical dossier review time to just 3 days, completing various infrastructure projects to ensure solar power can be fed into the grid, and enabling electricity payment through accounts for customers.

Not only individuals with solar power demands, but many businesses are also becoming interested in solar energy. In response to these desires, several incentive programs for industrial businesses to install solar panels have been launched by certain banks. Alongside this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Electricity sector have issued guidelines on electricity trading for businesses.

Tien Loc Dong Nai Manufacturing and Trading Co., Ltd. has made the decision to construct and install a rooftop solar energy system for its factory premises. The project boasts a total capacity of 2 MWp and is being built on the roofs of four factory buildings owned by Tien Loc Dong Nai Manufacturing and Trading Co., Ltd. The project is located along QL51 in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province. The supply of materials and construction for this project is being carried out by Saigon Gia Dinh Power Energy Corporation.

The project has reached a completion status of 50% of the total scope of work. Construction is currently ongoing to ensure the system can be operational and connected to the grid at the earliest opportunity.

According to representatives from Dong Nai Power Company Limited, solar energy is a “clean” and environmentally friendly energy source that is renewable and not depleted. The development of solar energy brings dual benefits in terms of economy, energy, and the environment. Therefore, the electricity sector is actively promoting the development of solar energy among citizens and businesses.

Dong Nai Power Company is also prepared to accept solar energy from customers and has developed flexible payment plans. The regulation of maintaining the electricity purchase price for 20 years for customers who install and operate solar energy systems in 2020 has positively impacted the growth of solar energy. This will significantly alleviate pressure on the electricity sector, as emphasized by the representative.

The project holds significant importance for Tien Loc Company and the surrounding region, as it combines industrial production with solar energy. This not only helps reduce negative environmental impacts but also generates electrical energy for factory operations and other functions, contributing to a more sustainable approach.
