(PLO) – For the past 66 years, the electrical workers have been dedicated to the country and its people both in wars and in socio-economic development.
On the traditional 66-year occasion of the Vietnamese electricity industry (December 21, 1954 – December 21, 2020), the Law of Ho Chi Minh City reviewed 10 outstanding achievements of the electricity industry during 2010-2020:
1. Ensuring electricity supply to serve socio-economic development and improve the quality of people’s life.
In the 2010-2020 period, commercial electricity grew at a high speed, from 85.4 billion kWh in 2010 to about 225.4 billion kWh in 2020; with an average growth rate of 9.66%/year, about 1.6 times higher than GDP growth rate. Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has provided enough electricity for socio-economic development, meeting the needs of all economic sectors, with the mission of “one step ahead”.
2. Excellently completing the key role in investment and development of power sources and grids.
The total investment capital of the electricity system in the period 2010 – 2019 is 1 million billion VND, 4 times higher than the period 2000 – 2009. Regarding the power grids, EVN has completed energizing 1,936 projects from 110 – 500 kV with a total of 8,290 km line. By the end of 2020, the national grid system has reached all parts of the country.
Regarding power source, EVN has put into operation 21 projects with a total capacity of 17,120 MW. From only 31.5 MW in 1954, the total installed capacity of the national electricity system is estimated to reach over 61,000 MW by the end of 2020.
3. The electricity loss rate of Vietnam’s electricity system has approached the levels of developed countries in the world.
The electricity loss rate of the whole EVN has decreased from 10.25% (2010) to 6.5% in 2020, approaching the rates of the developed countries in the world.
4. To successfully complete the task of bringing electricity to rural, mountainous and island areas.
By the end of 2020, EVN has provided electricity to 100% of communes and 99.54% of households. EVN also completed receiving and selling electricity directly to 11/12 island districts …
5. Pioneering in research and application of electric science and technology, innovating technology, improving production and business efficiency.
Currently, Vietnam’s mechanics and electrical power are capable of producing products requiring high technology levels such as 220 kV, 500 kV transformers, making Vietnam the first country in South East Asia to produce the 500kV transformers. By the end of 2020, EVN has put into operation the remote control centers at 707 220 – 110kV transformer stations … It is expected that by 2025, EVN will basically complete its digital enterprise transformation.
6. Continuing to create business innovations with more friendly and modern customer service.
EVN is the first unit to apply e-invoices nationwide in 2015. In 2016, EVN has accelerated the process of changing the payment method from home into centralized points, and intermediaries… EVN completed bringing 12/12 level 4 electrical services to connect to the national public service portal. According to the World Bank (WB), Vietnam’s access-to-electricity index in 2019 continues to rank 4th in the ASEAN region.
7. To carry out well the process of enterprise renewal and restructuring, preserve and develop the State capital.
EVN completes its divestment in enterprises that are not related to the main business lines or fields without the State’s intervention. The Group has performed well its task of preserving and developing state capital. The production and business activities in the past years have been basically profitable.
8. Labor productivity of the whole corporation has maintained an annual increase.
During 2016-2020, EVN set the target to increase labor productivity by 8-10%/year.
9. The environmental management and protection has always been focused and well implemented by EVN.
100% of works, power plant projects in operation performed by EVN have been confirmed to have completed environmental protection works before brought into operation. The power plants are fully equipped with environmental treatment systems for wastewater and exhaust gas; investing in automatic monitoring systems…
10. EVN always shows its responsibility to the community through many social security activities carried out each year.
During 2010 – 2019, the whole EVN has carried out many social security activities with a total value of more than 1,000 billion VND. In the recent 5 years, EVN has also held monthly customer appreciation events (December) with many practical activities: free repair, replacement and installation of lines for poor households and families relying on governmental policies across the country…
