When Covid 19 is causing difficulties for many fates, the meaning of care and solidarity of the word “compatriot” has been expressed more clearly than ever before to every corner of Sai Gon. During the outbreak of the pandemic, many voluntary groups as well as individuals have been actively joining their efforts in many different ways to support and care for people in difficulty.
Thanks to the efforts, in the past few days, there have been many fates of disabled, disadvantaged, homeless or unemployed people, etc… who have been saved from the worries about hunger when getting delivered portions of rice, cake or noodle… for free from the benefactors. Since the city was separated by the 16th directive and the curfew after 6pm, we have changed from fixed gift distribution points to 0 dong buses delivering charitable gifts to residents living in the blocked areas.
No matter day or night, even in the sweltering heat at midday, whenever having time, we are ready to hit the roads to fulfill our responsibilities with the community. In groups of 3 people on a car named EHCMC, our group quickly approached many streets and alleys in Thu Duc city to provide timely support.
Perhaps never before has Ho Chi Minh City appeared so many individuals and charities at the same time. There have been trucks with free food and gifts from the agencies at both ward and district levels, like the People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, Youth Union, etc., to individuals and organizations. EHCMC is not an exception, we also did our best by donating various kinds of gifts, servings of rice, vegetables, etc. to people in need. Even though there are many individuals and households that are not very rich, they have also donated to the vaccine funds, and done charitable work as much as possible.
In the heart of Sai Gon, people are sharing their love with real actions. In one way or another, everyone wants to share their love with those less fortunate than themselves. They believe that kindness and solidarity to help each other in difficult times will be a great strength to help the city named after Uncle Ho soon repel the pandemic. Hoping there will be one day in the near future Sai Gon can witness again the sights of traffic jams, the bustling sounds and thousands of other beautiful things. Please strictly implement social distancing, adhere to the 5K rule so as to keep yourself and the community safe. Only by doing so can the city stabilize and return to normal.
