The high potential for thermal radiation in certain central and southern provinces is attracting investors to develop their own hot spots of rooftop solar power in large quantities. Power companies have published information about medium and low voltage grids in overloaded areas that are incapable of receiving electrical power so that investors can clearly understand to make investments. Currently, medium – low voltage grids in the provinces in the North, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City are totally capable of receiving electrical power of RSP projects.
According to SPC in the south, there are currently 2,532 customers registering for connection, even though they have not operated commercially. (Total capacity of 1,496MWp). Among that, 240 projects, which have total capacity of 229MWp and main locations in Ninh Thuan ,Binh Thuan, Tay Ninh; have exceeded the capacity to release electrical power.
In central regions, where CPC takes control, solar power has strong development. High concentration in Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Kon Tum, Gia Lai; has put medium-voltage grids under threat of getting oveloaded. Currently, 519 projects that are 414MWp in capacity have registered for connection, but have not met power release capacity. Besides, power release capacity in other provinces is still guaranteed.
A number of measures:
EVN has propagated, and widely published information so that customers can have easy access and searching. Information on connection and capacity for power release of each transmission line and substation is made public and transparent.
EVN also directed Power Corporations /Power Companies to accelerate project’s working progress of renovating and upgrading medium-voltage grid in fully loaded and overloaded areas in 2020; created favorable conditions and encouraged investors to take part in developing RSP without making the 110kV grid overloaded, while at the same time, requesting Power corporations to do researches and make additional proposals for investment and renovation projects in grid-connected areas, and releasing RSP capacity in the upcoming years.
Besides, in order to support the investors, EVN has also proposed documents consecutively to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to get untangled and instructed to solve problems arising during the development of RSP.
To provide support for the investors, EVN has sent documents to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to deal with tangled issues around RSP.
