On July 16, in Hanoi, EVN organized the virtual conference “Strategy for energy innovation in the Federal Republic of Germany – Solutions, lessons and challenges for Vietnam”.
In the conference, there was the presence of Prof., Dr. Đỗ Thành Trung and Dr. Lennard Wilkening (from Humburg University, Germany).
On the side of EVN, there were EVN’s Deputy Director Võ Quang Lâm and the representatives of EVN’s speciality boards. The conference is connected online to 9 corporations of the Group.
According to EVN’s Deputy Director Võ Quang Lâm, as of June 30, 2019, Vietnam’s electric power system has nearly 4,700 MW of solar power capacity. It is expected that by December 31, 2019, an additional 1,000 MW will be connected to the national electricity system. Thus, the scale of solar power source will be equivalent to approximately 10% of the total installed capacity of the entire system. The rapid development of RE resources in a very short time has been making a significant impact on the management and operation of EVN’s system.
“EVN has been actively doing researches and learning to apply effectively lessons and experiences in the operation and management of the power systems of many countries, among which Germany is the leader in RE development” said Mr. Võ Quang Lâm.
At the conference, Prof., Dr. Đỗ Thành Trung and PhD. Lennard Wilkening had an exchange on the key contents such as: The path of Germany towards energy freedom; the energy transition in Germany: New success and challenges; the differences in the “problems” of RE development in Vietnam and Germany.
A lot of time of the conference is also spent on the discussion about the issues: Energy 4.0, digitalization of energy systems, new elements of the future power grid, power transmission technology,…
After this conference, on the dates from 17 – 19 of July, Prof., Dr. Đỗ Thành Trung and PhD. Lennard Wilkening will continue to have intensive exchanges and training with the technical experts of EVN on centralized and decentralized energy systems; HVDC and HVAC power transmission technologies.
