With the expected capital amounting to 4.8 billion USD, PNE Group (Germany) wants to soon start an offshore wind power project in the waters of Phu Cat and Phu My districts of Binh Dinh province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief representative of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam expressed his belief that the implementation of the aforementioned wind power project would turn Vietnam into a competitive wind power supplier in the region and globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long had a meeting with Mr. Marko Walde – Chief Representative of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam, together with the representatives of PNE Group (Federal Republic of Germany) to evaluate and study the feasibility before proceeding to start the Binh Dinh offshore wind power plant project (the Project).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the short run, PNE Group hopes to launch the offshore wind power project in the waters of Phu Cat and Phu My districts of Binh Dinh province. The project is highly feasible, providing a considerable amount of electricity to Binh Dinh province and the national power system from 6.6-7 billion kWh\/year; The total investment is more than 113 thousand billion VND (4.8 billion USD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project consultant is the Institute of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade). The preliminary feasibility report showed that the project was constructed offshore Phu My and Phu Cat districts, the surveyed area was 96,470ha, there were  154-166 wind turbines (12-13MW \/turbine), adding up to about 2,000MW in total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PNE Group plans to build from 154 – 166 wind turbines with a total capacity up to 2,000 MW. The project will be implemented in 3 phases, including a pilot phase of 700MW scale with investment capital of 1.6 billion USD, in the waters areas that are 60-100m deep (in 2025); Phase 1 with the scale of 700MW (in 2026); Phase 2 with the scale of 600 MW (in 2027). The average wind speed in the project area is 8 m\/s (preliminarily).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PNE Group is committed to carrying out the technical survey steps related to the project in 2021 and begin construction and installation in the pilot phase in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, the investor suggested the Provincial People’s Committee quickly submit the proposal to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the addition of the Binh Dinh offshore wind power project to Power Planning VIII. Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long affirmed that Binh Dinh province would provide maximum support to the investors to promote the Project. The most critical point is that the Project must be added to the national power plan as the basis for the next steps. PNE is encouraged to work closely with the Institute of Energy to complete the assessment of the Project\u2019s feasibility, documents and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chairman also assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to be the host, and coordinate with other departments and branches, making sure that by the end of December 2020, the proposal on adding the Project to the Power Planning VIII will have been submitted to the Provincial People’s Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Marko Walde expressed his gratitude to the enthusiastic and effective support of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province and professional agencies of the province in the recent years. He believed that the implementation of the wind power projects in the province would make Vietnam become a competitive wind power supplier in the region and worldwide, in order to reach the goals of sustainable development and of Vietnam\u2019s Renewable Energy Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up to now, there have been 3 projects of the Federal Republic of Germany invested in Binh Dinh with a total investment of more than 15 million USD; among which, more than 13 million USD was invested in the project of the injections – fluids factory that qualified the standards of GMP-WHO of Vietnam Fresenius Kabi Joint Stock Company in Binh Dinh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
