Solar power is getting hotter like the sun. Many solar panel factories have been investing and developing in Vietnam in order to meet both the potential and the increasing demand for solar power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This article would like to send readers top 8 solar panel factories under construction, as well as the ones having operated in the Vietnamese market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. First Solar (Cu Chi District, HCMC)<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
First Solar is a globally famous manufacturer of thin film solar panels in the US. The First Solar project in Dong Nam Industrial Park (Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City) was granted an investment certificate in January 2011 and launched into construction two months later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
After suspending operation for a while, in early 2018, First Solar confirmed that it would restart investment activities in the Vietnamese market. Accordingly, First Solar invested an additional $360 million for the construction of a second high-tech 1.2GW solar panel factory, bringing the company’s total investment in Vietnam up to $830 million \/$1.2 billion of the committed investment capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. HT Solar (Hai Phong)<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The project is implemented with the goals and scale of: manufacturing solar panels with an output of 800 MW\/year and solar panels with an output of 1,000 MW\/year. The total investment capital of the project is 22 million USD, in which the contributed capital to implement the project is 5 million USD. The expected factory area for use is nearly 11,000 m2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The project is implemented with the goals and scale of: manufacturing solar panels with an output of 800 MW\/year and solar panels with an output of 1,000 MW\/year. 3. IREX Solar (Vung Tau)<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
IREX – a member of Bach Khoa Solar Corporation (SolarBK), was established in 2012. Inheriting 40 years of scientific research and in-depth investment, IREX is now one of Vietnam’s leading suppliers of PV panels that meet the international standards, as well as domestic and international requirements. Together with a well-trained R&D team, IREX has successfully researched and manufactured solar panels with high efficiency at the global standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
IREX is the factory with the most modern production line, with capacity of over 300MW\/year. Beside owning two lines of Mono and Poly solar panels exported to Europe and America; IREX also has a 100% automatic production line of photovoltaic cells (solar cell).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The manufacturing process meets the international standards: Design standards and requirements for IEC 61215: 2005, safety standards for UL 1703 solar panels, for IEC 61730 : 2004 flat solar panels, quality management system ISO 9001: 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Vina Solar (Lao Cai)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Vina Solar is a project of Vietnam Vina Solar Technology Co., Ltd (a member company of Canadian Solar Power Group). In early 2018, Mr. Qu Xiao Hua – President of the Solar Power Group (Canada) had a meeting with Lao Cai provincial leaders to facilitate the group to launch a project of building a crystal pulling factory, casting, cutting solar panels with a total investment of 1 billion USD in Lao Cai province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Total estimated land area for the factory construction is 228 ha. If approved by Lao Cai province for implementation, this project will create jobs for about 10,000 workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. IC Energy (Quang Nam)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In 2011, the project of Indochina Energy Industry Company (IC Energy) solar panel factory was officially started at Chu Lai Open Industrial Park (Quang Nam).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The plant has a total capacity of 120MW\/year, including 4 modules and auxiliary production lines for solar panel production. The total investment value is over 390 million USD with advanced technology from Europe and America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
6. Trina Solar (Bac Giang)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In 2017, the solar panel factory of Trina Solar (Vietnam) Science & Technology Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated and put into operation in Bac Giang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The total designed output of the plant reached 1GW, which is the largest solar panel factory in Vietnam today. This is Trina Solar’s 7th solar panel production project in Bac Giang that came into operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trina Solar (Vietnam) Science & Technology Co., Ltd is a company with 100% investment capital of Trinasolar China Group, with total investment up to 100 million USD, and factory area of 42,000 square meters, 14 modern production lines, manufacturing a variety of monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels, and exporting to all continents of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
7. JA Solar (Bac Giang)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In November 2016, JA Solar Vietnam factory was started in Quang Chau industrial zone, Bac Giang province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
This project of investor JA Solar Investment Limited (Hong Kong) has a total investment of 6,235 billion VND with the scale of producing 1,500 MW\/year solar panels, 600 MW\/year monocrystalline silicon bars, 900 MW\/year polycrystalline silicon bars, 1,500 MW\/year monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon sheets. The area of \u200b\u200bland used by the project is about 20ha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
8. Canadian Solar (Hai Phong)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Canadian Solar in Vietnam is located at Factory D11, No. 5 East-West Street, Industrial Investment Area and Vsip Service, Hai Phong. In April 2016, IFC decided to provide a credit line of 60 million USD and the remaining 10 million USD will be supported in the form of buying shares in Canadian Solar to develop solar panel factories in Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Alzbeta Klein, IFC’s director of manufacturing, agriculture and services, said the solar industry was entering a major turning point. The rapid drop in production costs will enable the industry to expand and grow rapidly in the emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
